Why a foundation?

Why a foundation?

I got to a point in my life where I was succeeding at a certain level, but something was missing. I think that’s what pushed me to apply to be on “Survivor” —that and my assistant Mindy who put the Survivor application on my chair everyday.

My Survivor experience pushed me physically and psychologically. I saw myself through other’s eyes and I got in touch with my fear, which was preventing me from connecting more deeply with others.

With Survivor, we had the benefits of a team of counselors helping us process our experience once we got off the island. It became apparent to me that this mix of counseling and getting feedback from fellow contestants might have more merit than simply being on a television show.

In fact, I’ve felt so moved that I want to connect with organizations that are already serving women to see how we can help women together.

I know that I can’t help everyone. I know that I’m not the expert, but I invite organizations that are already helping empower women to send The Real Foundation a letter describing their services and suggestions on how we can help women tap into their inner strength and self-confidence.

At this point, the foundation is only in the development stage. I can’t promise you a timeline. It all depends on how many people write in. Letters of interest will be reviewed on an ongoing basis, but may take up to 12 weeks to be considered. We might just look at this like Survivor, the winning idea….
